Our Review:

ThePinkSofa.co.uk is a fun-looking dating site for lesbian and bisexual single women. With a large membership base and a range of fantastic features, it certainly warrants its place in our Top10, whether you're looking for pen pals, erotic chat, friendship, casual encounters, dating or a relationship.

The majority of members registered on the site come from the UK, USA, Europe and Australia and New Zealand, though you will find a minority of members from elsewhere too. At the time of this review there were 1300 members online, and 170 new members recently registered. Whilst not being the most active site in this category in terms of online activity, it's still buzzing, and you can expect a healthy number of members online whenever you log on. It's quick and easy to join and create your basic profile; however, you'll need to have a valid email address. There's a pretty wide cross-section of lesbian sub-types on the site, with femmes, bi-females, queer 'grrls', couples and more. Preview profiles are what you see when browsing and provide you with limited details about that member. This includes a thumbnail photo, age, relationship status and location. By clicking on the preview profile you can access the member's full profile but full profiles aren't really as detailed as on other sites in the Top10. However, they do give you the gist, and there's nothing like actually communicating with that member to really get to know them, so don't be put off. Basic members get to upload 10 photos, whilst premium members get double this amount.

To search profiles you have a number of tools. The quick search option allows you to specify who you're looking for (e.g. lesbian, bisexual, bi-couple), relationship status, age range, location, distance, zip code (plus filtering of profiles to retain only those with photos or sort by age or most recent login). The advanced search extends this to include appearance/body type, children, hair and eye color, zodiac sign, drink and smoking habits, ethnicity and more. To save time next time you search, you can save your advanced searches. There's also a username search.

To connect with other members there's an internal email system that appears to be the default method of communication on the site. You can also send a 'kiss' to register interest in another member, who is then informed and who will then hopefully respond in kind. To chat in real time there's an instant messenger (IM) feature (text only). To request IM you can just click on the profile of the member you want to chat with and request this (as long as they are online). You also receive lists of potentially compatible members delivered to your inbox. There's also a range of chat rooms that are well supported by members. You need to download the java add-on before you can join a chat room (can do so on the site). There are also over 100 forums covering PinkSofa information, arts, careers, culture, current affairs, hobbies, relationships and more. The 'Your Say' feature lets you post accommodation and personal ads, though this aspect of the site seems neglected.  You can also create a favorites list and share updates with other members, so there are plenty of ways to get in touch and connect with others.

Free members get to create a profile and browse others, basic search tools, reply to emails, limited kisses, limited chat room access and create a limited favorites list and browse forums. Premium members get unlimited email, kisses, IM and chat room access, advanced search options, get highlighted in search results, enlarged profile photos, extra email storage (up to 10mb), unlimited favorites list and priority email customer support. If you join for 12 months you pay just $12.50 per month, which is a great deal.

PinkSofa.co.uk is a great lesbian dating site with plenty to offer whatever you're looking for. Whilst the odd feature may be slightly lacking, your chances of meeting others whilst a member here are high, so why not check it out now?
