Our Review:

LesbianCougarDating.com is something of a niche lesbian dating site. It caters for more mature women seeing younger women, and vice versa. It's completely free to join and the process takes just a minute; all you need is a valid email address. However, before you can use the site you have to wait for your profile to be approved, which can take anything up to 24 hours. This can be frustrating as you aren't allowed any real access to the site during this time.

LesbianCougarDating.com isn't particularly forward about publishing its site statistics, however, you'll find literally thousands of profiles to browse here. At the time of this review there were around a couple of hundred online, which doesn't suggest the most active site. Unfortunately, there's no way of gaging activeness until you sign up. Whilst you'll find plenty of women on here looking for more committed relationships, the majority are seeking online chat with other women or casual encounters. The distinction between this and other sites is that (theoretically speaking), members are divided between cougars (more mature women) and cubs (younger women). However, the distinction is somewhat muddied and it's not always easy to differentiate between cougars and cubs, which could be helped by having to resister as one or the other. That said, you'll find plenty of complete profiles on the site, with a definite bias to the older lesbian. The profiles themselves are not that detailed in comparison to other sites, with only basic information recorded.

Search options are somewhat limited. You'll find a basic search where you can specify age, location and looking for (and filter out profiles without photos). The advanced search allows you to specify appearance, habits, interests and more. There's also a basic username search if you know the name of the member you're looking for. To connect with other members there's an internal email system that allows you to exchange messages with other members privately and securely. If you haven't been in touch with a member but want to register an interest without writing your own email, you can send a preformatted flirt to help break the ice and initiate contact this way. There's also an instant messenger (IM) features that allows you to request to chat with members in real time by clicking on their profile. However, bear in mind that the member you wish to contact has to also be online for this, otherwise your message will be redirected to their email inbox. You can also create a favorites list to keep a track of the profiles you like best, and a friends network that builds as you get to know more people on the site.

You get all of this for free, which is a pretty good deal. However, there aren't as many members on this site as on others in this category. Another thing to note is that there are more mature women (that is, more cougars) than cubs, which is great if you're looking for a cougar. It's also sometimes hard to differentiate the groups. In case you have any technical problems there's a basic help section and an email support form. You should get a reply to your message within a day of contacting the support desk.

LesbianCougarDating.com addresses the need for a lesbian dating site that brings together younger and mature lesbians and you get a great deal for free. However, it does suffer from a lack  of online activity, whereas you'd find much more going on elsewhere. Nonetheless, for lesbians looking to hook up with a cougar or a cub then it's worth stopping by.
