Our Review:

LesbianPersonals.com is a close runner-up to GayGirlDate.com in our lesbian dating category. It's a great-looking site, albeit slightly cluttered, which is partly testament to the amount of features and content on offer. Unlike other sites, you get to see animated thumbnails rather than the usual static images, which livens up some of the profiles (not all). It caters for women and couples looking for friendship, dating, casual encounters and committed relationships.

LesbianPersonals.com has members all over the world with many coming from the UK, Europe and USA. At the time of this review there were 81,759 online, a truly massive online presence. There were also 1,308 live webcams broadcasting. The chances of meeting other members near you or in far-flung locations is therefore high.

The profiles are detailed and complete. It's possible to verify photos in order that members know that it's really you in the picture, which is a good idea in terms of attracting interest (instructions of how to do this are provided on the site). In addition to plenty of information on a member's appearance, character, interests, what they're looking for and so on, you can also find voice intros and video intros. These help to give you a much better idea of how a member moves, speaks and acts. The profile page also lets you know when a member was last online, helping you to judge whether a profile is inactive or fake.

There's also a range of search options on offer to help you find what you're looking for. The free standard search allows you to search profiles based upon what you're looking for (e.g. lesbian, bi, couple), what they're looking for, location and age range. You can also filter results to yield only standard members or Gold subscription members.

If you're a Gold member you can extend the range of criteria to create an advanced search, including language, zodiac sign, Chinese zodiac sign, ethnicity and distance from zip code/city. You also get extra filters, such as profiles with photos, voice intros, verified members, personality type, relationship status, children, sexual orientation, body type, appearance, and habits. You can also filter your results by last visit and those willingness to relocate, in addition to the above. As a Gold member, you can save searches to prevent you entering the details again. Finally, you can also find preconfigured searches, e.g. 'online now', 'new members', 'hot member content' and 'most popular women/couples'.

To connect with other members you'll probably use the internal email system most often. This allows you to exchange messages with other members in a safe, secure way. To open contact with a member you can break the ice by sending a flirt (an automated message sent by clicking on the appropriate icon on a member's profile). To chat in real time, you can use the site's instant messenger (IM) feature. This allows you to chat using text or plug in your webcam. At the time of this review there were 13,958 using IM. Obviously, the member you wish to chat with has to be online for this, so check before you send your request.

The chat rooms are also very popular. As mentioned above, there were over 1,000 webcams broadcasting in the chat rooms. Content can be fairly tame and friendly or a little hotter, so have a look around. You'll find plenty of each on offer. As a member you also get 'Cupid matches', whereby you get sent recommendations for potential matches based upon profile similarities.

There are also additional ways of getting in touch; you can contribute magazine articles (239,167 articles contributed by members), join groups based upon a particular issue or interest (e.g. lesbian issues, hobbies, politics, arts and culture; 162,009 groups with over 3 million members) or create or read a blog (539,273 blogs and over 16 million posts). You can also create a hotlist of your favorite profiles and a friends network. Whatever you choose to do, you'll find plenty of members to connect with.   

Free members get to join and create a profile, reply to emails from Gold members, as well as IM requests, enter public chat rooms, browse profiles (main photo only, no video intros), use standard search, get up to 10 Cupid matches, view emails for 30 days, create a hotlist of 200 and get technical support by email within 2 days.

Gold members get unrestricted access to all features mentioned above, full access to all profile photos and videos, 1000 in the hotlist, view emails for 120 days, super advanced search, priority listing and priority technical support by telephone. It's well worth signing up for Gold membership, as you get full access to a great site for a reasonable subscription fee. Whilst you get plenty as a free member, you are still a little restricted by only being able to reply to subscribing members. It's up to you whether you go for any of the enhancements, but a well-crafted profile will probably get you plenty of interest without these.

As mentioned above, technical support is very good, especially if you take out a Gold membership (telephone assistance is given), plus prompt email support and FAQs section.

LesbianPersonals.com is a fantastic site with a massive membership base and buzzing with activity. Packed with features too, there's so much to keep you hooked and with some great deals available you'd be crazy not to check it out.
